Opus Diabolicum + Moonspell - Leiria

No shadow, but with low temperatures and rain, Moonspell returned to Leiria, six years after their first and only appearance on that city. The sound was less aggressive and more melodic than the normal, Moonspell presented themself tonight along with Opus Diabolicum female chorus and The Crystal Mountain Singers.

Opus Diabolicum, the quintet of cellos and drums, took the first part of the show. The beginning of their performance was accompanied by a play of shadows through a thin curtain that hid the stage. Quite synchronized, they played some versions of the songs of Moonspell, Trebaruna for example, from a perspective different from the original, a sound that could be classified as Classical Metal in the style of Finnish band Apocalyptica (they are a source of inspiration for this quintet) . The crowd that nearly filled the Teatro José Lúcio da Silva responded positively to the performance of the band, which interacted enough. A good environment was created  for what followed next.
After the performances of Opus Diabolicum was time to Moonspell get on the stage. With the sound of Slow Down, the opening track on the album Sin / Pecado and the play of shadow across the thin curtain, produced by the silhouettes of thirteen members on stage, has begun to conduct what would be unforgettable. Accompanied by Opus Diabolicum, the band started playing the first song of their set list, Handmade God. From there were about two magical hours, when they heard the new arrangements made to music by Peter Passion.

Luna, with an introduction and very quiet with a magical sound, was able to transport the audience to a mysterious place and ended up being the highlight of the evening. This was undoubtedly the best song with the arrangement made by the Passion. Another highlight of the evening was the song Alma Mater, Fernando Ribeiro asked those present to stand up and follow him. The audience obediently got up and accompanied the singer throughout the song, most notable being that chorus in unison in parts of the lyrics in Portuguese.
Fernando Ribeiro returned to address the public at times, pulling lots of laughter because of his gaffes, like when he said that was not a night to remember.

Returning to the concert, other songs are the highlight Mute, by Fernando Ribeiro considered one of the most beautiful ballads ever and the music that ended with a great concert this magnificent, Full Moon Madness. This music album Irreligious while maintaining its contrast between the clear voice of Fernando Ribeiro and guttural, he won great depth and intensity with the inclusion of female voices, especially in the final of the music. No doubt a majestic end.

That said, the vocals out of tune, quite competent musicians and flawless, with a very well achieved through the lighting and projections on the screen, did this show, a memorable show.
